ISRAEL – Past & Present Witnesses

“You are my witnesses that I am God. lampstand rome
Yes, and from ancient days I am He
.”  Isaiah 43:12

DISPERSED throughout world as prophesied

“Then the Lord will scatter you among all peoples,                          from one end of the earth to the other.”  Deut. 28:64

Last Days – BACK IN LAND

“I will bring you back to the land of Israel.”  Ezekiel 37:12

No other nation on earth was given a prophecy  they would be scattered across the world then eventually given their land back. It was all prophesied ahead of time as a witness to the world that God does what He says He will do.

The “Exodus” bringing Jews home 1947

“Who has ever heard of such things?  Who has ever seen things like this?   Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?”                  Isaiah 66:8

“My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them… I will put breath in you, and you will come to life”   Ezekiel 37:12

“I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel” Joel 3:2

“This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you thinker (1)have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11

LAST DAY WITNESSES OF REVELATION 11                                                                                 See: 2 Witnesses – Revelation 11

Israel witnesses for 1260 days. This is not a literal number of days but an allusion to the times time and half a time of the ‘writing on the wall’ at Belshazzars Feast.  Revelation is about the ‘Mene Mene Tekel and Parsin’ of all aspects of the world. In Revelation 11 the temple of God and it’s worshipers are measured/weighed – not a literal temple but measuring Israel – the  ones God made the custodians of His word –

Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. Rev 11:3measuring temple

In symbol, the Jews and Christians witness in sackcloth for the same length of time that Jesus was amongst them as a witness. Their powers mimic the miracles of Moses and Elijah – they send fire on their enemies as Elijah did, and strike the earth with every kind of plague as Moses did. They are clothed in sackcloth (hairy mantle) – the garment of a prophet (witness).

When the time of their witness is finished,  the final Beast of Revelation 13 is given authority over them. However, the Beast operates outside Israel until the 1260 days end, then it attacks them and wins.

“When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified (Jerusalem). For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.” Revelation 11:7-10

“The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the harlot. They will bring her to ruin and leave her
naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled. The woman you saw is the great city that has kingship amongst the kings of    the earth.” Revelation 17:16-18Revelation 17 describes the enemy who attacks Israel as a ‘Beast’ with 7 heads and 10 horns, and Israel as the harlot who has forsaken God and for a time rides on the Beast until it turns and attacks her.

Israel will be attacked and overpowered by ‘the Beast’, they will turn to God and He will answer them.

“The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins”  Isaiah 59:20

“Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look to Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for Him as one weeps for a firstborn.”  Zechariah 12:10

DESTRUCTION IN SYRIA/IRAQ While Israel witness in sackcloth

While Israel is witnessing in sackcloth, and the beast has authority to blaspheme, the 7 cups of God’s wrath are poured onto the earth.  Rev 16:1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.” The Greek word for earth here is “ge” –the equivalent of the Hebrew “eretz” in Old Testament (Compare Greek Septuagint with Hebrew) – the area generally applying to “The Land” – The Land promised to Abraham between Nile and Euphrates (when the ‘wider world’ is intended other Greek words like ‘cosmos’ or ‘oikoumene’ are used). These judgments are in the area of ‘The land promised to Abraham, but not on Israel – they are on her Arab neighbours and are another witness that Jesus is coming soon.

The image of Daniel 2 foretold the fate of Israel while under foreign rule – from the time of the Babylonians until the Romans.

Judah under foreign rule

The prophecy has a gap – the Promised Land “enjoyed it’s Sabbaths” and the Jews were scattered. It recommenced in the days of the “Ten Toe Kings”.  These are also the ten horns of the beast – the Arab nations occupying the area of the Promised Land in Psalm 83 during the days prior to Jesus returning and setting up God’s Kingdom – “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be                                                                                                          destroyed” Dan 2:44                                   Decreed desolations while Jews dispersed

We are in the days of the 10 Toe Kings. We can see the plagues poured on Syia and Iraq – the refugees a further witness to the world of what is happening just as Jeremiah foretold I will send to Babylon (Iraq) winnowers, and they shall winnow her, and they shall empty her land, when they come against her from every side on the day of trouble.” Jer. 51:2 Jesus is coming soon.

Now is the time to turn to Jesus and have a sure hope of a part in God’s Kingdom that will soon fill the earth.
