In the Bosom of Jesus

A closer look at the text of the Last Supper reveals that the Beloved Disciple was not  lying on Jesus bosom, they were in it.

IN THE BOSOM OF JESUS IN THE BOSOM OF GOD
“There was at table one of His disciples in (εις , ἐν) the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved. ”  John 13:23 Darby Translation (also Berean, Aramaic, American Standard, English Revised, Youngs Literal Translation) “No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in (εἰς)  the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.”         John 1:18

It seems that the author of the 4th Gospel intended to make the link between Jesus being in the bosom of the Father and the Beloved Disciple being in the Bosom of Jesus – the same phrase recorded in the same book by the same author.

Jesus ‘declared God’, and the Beloved Disciple ‘declared’ Jesus by writing the 4th Gospel.  They also wrote the letters known as the Epistles of John.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched- this we declare concerning the Word of life.  1 John 1:1

If we follow Jesus we can all be ‘Beloved Disciples’ and declare Him as He declared His Father.
